🗳️ Advance Voting Is Open - and There's a Drop Box at Our Library
The August 4th Kansas primary is two weeks out, and advance voting is already open. Whatever your party (or no party at all), here's your Basehor game plan:
Vote early in person at the Leavenworth County Courthouse (300 Walnut St, Leavenworth), 8am to 4pm weekdays. Bring photo ID.
Vote by mail: Apply at ksvotes.org by Tuesday, July 28. Completed ballots must reach the election office by close of polls on Election Day.
The easy local option: One of the county's five official ballot drop boxes is right at the Basehor Community Library, 1400 158th St. Fill out your mail ballot, drop it on your next library run.
Unaffiliated? You still get a say: a statewide constitutional amendment appears on every voter's ballot, party or not.
Election Day polls run 7am to 7pm on Tuesday, August 4.
Questions about your registration or polling place? The county election office is at 913.684.0421, or check the county elections page.

🌧️ About That Haze (and the Rain That's Finally Coming)
If the sky looks a little milky today, that's patchy wildfire smoke drifting through the area - the National Weather Service has it in the forecast alongside a comfortable 84.
The bigger story: real rain finally arrives. Showers are likely Thursday (56%) and storms are expected Friday (81%) - the first meaningful rain in weeks for lawns and gardens that have been baking through the heat wave. Then it's back to sunshine for the weekend, with 90 Saturday and 96 by Sunday.
🎡 Fair Countdown: 6 Days
Six days until the Leavenworth County Fair's 100th anniversary opens in Tonganoxie (July 28 to August 1).
Today's fair tip: Plan the visit now - admission is free and parking is $5, so carpool with the neighbors, bring cash for the food vendors and the 50/50 pot, and remember the fairgrounds are just 15 minutes down the road at 405 W 4th Street.
And if you've been sitting on a favorite fair memory or an old photo, this is the week - hit reply!
