A Grocery Store of Our Own: Fareway Opens on State Ave

Fareway storefront photo goes here

After more than a decade without a grocery store in town, Basehor officially has one again. Fareway Meat & Grocery recently opened its doors at 15790 State Ave, and it is hard to overstate what that means for folks who have been driving to Bonner Springs or Lansing for a gallon of milk.

The store is known for its old-school, full-service meat counter, and it is open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 9pm (closed Sundays).

If you have shopped there already, hit reply and tell us what you think. We would love to share reader reviews in a future issue!

The County Fair Wants Your Memories for Its 100th

The Leavenworth County Fair turns 100 years old this month, and organizers are making it a celebration to remember, July 28 through August 1 in Tonganoxie.

Here is a fun way to be part of it: The Tonganoxie Mirror is collecting fair memories, old photos, newspaper clippings, and stories from festivals past, to help mark the centennial. The fair began in 1926 as a downtown celebration of a bumper corn crop and has been a county tradition ever since.

Heads Up: Sales Tax Question Coming to the November Ballot

The City of Basehor has a sales tax question headed to the November 4th ballot under the banner "Improved Roads. Better Parks. Brighter Basehor."

We will break down exactly what is being proposed, what it would cost, and what it would fund in upcoming issues as the election gets closer. For now, mark the date and keep an eye on cityofbasehor.org for official details.
