I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?
You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.
Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?
Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.
The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.
That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.
Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.
Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.
If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

🎒 One Week to Go Before the First Bell
Seven days left. USD 458 students in PK-5, 6th grade, and 9th grade start school on Thursday, August 13, with 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders following the next day, Friday, August 14.
If registration, the Transportation Form, or proof of residency paperwork is still sitting on your to do list, this is the week to knock it out. And remember, the new statewide cell phone policy we covered earlier this week takes effect the moment the first bell rings, so it is worth a family conversation before day one.

🏨 Did You Know: Basehor Has Had Three Hotels
Here is one even longtime residents may not know. According to the Basehor Historical Museum, the town has been home to three different hotels over the past century or so, all on what used to be Basehor's Main Street, now known as 155th Street near the current Fairmount Township Fire Station.
First came the Hotel Mayfield in 1910, then the Basehor Hotel in 1920, and finally the Commercial 40 Hotel in 1940. That old business district also saw its share of fires over the years, which is part of why so little of it remains visible today.

⛪ This Month in History: A Church on the Move
Later this month marks the anniversary of one of the more unusual moments in Basehor's history. On August 17, 1901, a German Methodist church, originally built in 1877 as Zion's Kirche, ten years before Basehor's founding, was physically moved into town using nothing more than a single team of horses and a turnstile.
The church had originally served a German speaking congregation under a circuit riding minister, Rev. Berg, who preached without salary and performed more weddings than probably any other minister in Leavenworth County at the time. The building was later remodeled and redecorated over the decades, most recently in the winter of 1975 and 1976.
