I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Meme of the Day

The Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect today through 8pm Friday, heat index still reaching dangerous levels. Today hits 97, Friday 96, and Saturday 97, all mostly sunny. The wait is almost over though, real relief lands Sunday with a much more comfortable 92 and a chance of storms to cool things down further.

First day photo goes here

It is finally here. Students in PK-5, 6th grade, and 9th grade head back to class today for the 2026-27 school year, and they are doing it under an active Extreme Heat Warning. Good luck to every student walking in for the first time, and to every parent snapping a photo on the porch this morning.

If you have not already, send a full water bottle, dress light, and keep an eye on any outdoor drop off or pickup lines where waiting in direct sun could be a problem.

📅 Today: First day for PK-5, 6, and 9

📅 Tomorrow: First day for 7-8 and 10-12

🌡️ Weather note: Extreme Heat Warning active through Friday

🏫 The New BLHS Addition Opens Its Doors Today Too

A nice bit of timing worth calling out. The three story multipurpose building at Basehor-Linwood High School, funded by Bond 2024 and roughly doubling the school's size, has been finished and ready since earlier this month. Today, students walk through it for the first time as part of a real school day, not just a construction milestone.

Along with the finished Early Learning Center expansion, it caps off a busy stretch of growth for a district that has pushed past 3,000 resident students.

Why it matters: More room for a growing district, opening on day one of the new year

☀️ Heat Relief Is on the Way

Hang in there, Basehor. The Extreme Heat Warning holds through Friday evening, but the forecast genuinely turns a corner by the weekend. Saturday is the last hot day at 97, and Sunday drops to 92 with a better chance of rain to help cool things off.

Two more days of caution, then a real break.
