The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area from 1pm to 9pm today, with a high near 97 and heat index values climbing well past that. This is the peak of the current heat wave.
The playbook for today:
Move outdoor work and exercise to before 10am or skip it altogether.
Drink water steadily, not just when you feel thirsty.
Never leave kids or pets in vehicles, even for a minute.
Check on older neighbors and anyone without reliable AC.

The Basehor City Council holds its Regular Meeting & Work Session tonight at City Hall, 1600 N 158th Street. Meetings are open to the public, and there's a Zoom option if you'd rather follow along from the AC.
