I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

β˜€οΈ Heat Builds Again This Week

After last weekend's brief break, the heat is back and building. Today, Tuesday, and Wednesday all push into the mid 90s, mostly sunny each day. There is no active heat alert as of this morning, but conditions are close enough to advisory territory that it is worth checking again before you head out, especially for anything strenuous outdoors.

The good news is real relief is only a few days out. Thursday drops to 88, with a chance of showers and storms helping cool things down further.

🐾 3 Days to Go: Meet the Bobcats

With the first bell just three days away for most students, here is a little school pride to get everyone in the mood. Basehor-Linwood High School was established in 1966, and its teams have gone by the Bobcats ever since, with mascot Bobby the Bobcat leading the charge in green and gold.

The Bobcats compete in the United Kansas Conference, with longstanding rivalries against Piper and De Soto. Whatever grade your student is heading into, it is a good week to dig out the green and gold and get ready to cheer them on.

Here is a number worth sitting with. The 2020 Census counted 6,896 residents in Basehor, and more recent Census sourced estimates put the town closer to 7,004. That is roughly a hundred new neighbors in just a few years, on top of the growth the district and the city have both been building toward with new schools, new roads, and new development.

It might not feel like much day to day, but it adds up, and it is part of why so much has been under construction around town lately.
