I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Meme of the Day

Storms are possible this morning, but skies are expected to clear to mostly sunny by afternoon, with a high of 88. If you're headed to the fair for Senior Day or the pie contest, the afternoon should cooperate nicely.

The fair's closing weekend looks great: 79 and clear Saturday, then sunny in the low-to-mid 80s through Sunday and Monday. A beautiful stretch to send off the centennial fair.

👵 Senior Day at the Fair Today

Today's a special one for Basehor's older neighbors. Senior Day at the Fair, sponsored by the Leavenworth County Council on Aging, runs 10am to 12:30pm under the Big Top - and it's completely free for seniors.

If you've got an older parent, grandparent, or neighbor who hasn't been out to the fair yet this week, today's the easiest day to get them there.

Quick Details

📍 Location: Under the Big Top, fairgrounds

🕙 Time: 10:00am to 12:30pm

💵 Cost: Free for seniors

🥧 Pie Baking Contest Judging at 1pm

One of the fair's sweetest traditions happens today. Entries were accepted from noon to 1pm, and judging kicks off at 1pm in the Administration Building. Categories run Youth (18 and under), Adult (19-59), and Senior (60 and up), amateur bakers only, from-scratch entries.

The top pies in each division go up for auction before Friday's livestock sale, with proceeds supporting the Leavenworth County 4-H Foundation scholarship program - so even the pie contest gives back.

Quick Details

📍 Location: Administration Building

🕐 Judging: 1:00pm

Why it matters: Winning pies get auctioned to support 4-H scholarships

🐮 Tonight: Livestock Auction & Mutton Bustin'

The fair's biggest night for 4-H and FFA families arrives tonight. The Annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction runs at 7pm in the Livestock Show Arena - the payoff for a year of raising and showing.
