Chiefs Kingdom: Training Camp Is One Week Away
Football is almost back. Chiefs rookies and quarterbacks report to training camp one week from today, on July 24, with veterans following on July 29 at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph - the club's 16th camp there and an easy day trip up from Basehor.

Open practices run July 29 through August 20, with the first general-public session on Thursday, July 30.
Most practices are free, but tickets must be reserved in advance at chiefs.com/trainingcamp. Parking is $8 per vehicle.
A $7 admission applies on three dates: August 1, August 7, and August 8 (Family Fun Day).

With highs in the mid-90s, this weekend calls for an early-bird-and-evening strategy:
Saturday morning: Hit the Bonner Springs Farmers' Market from 8am to noon in downtown Bonner Springs, and go on the early side before the sun really gets going. Peak-of-summer produce is rolling in.
Sunday evening: Once the sun drops, Cinema Sundays takes over the City Hall lawn with a free family movie at dusk. Bring blankets, bug spray, and cold drinks.

The Leavenworth County Fair's 100th anniversary is now just 11 days away (July 28 to August 1 in Tonganoxie).
Today's fair fact: The centennial slate has all the classics on it - the parade, carnival rides, 4-H and FFA exhibits, livestock shows, the demolition derby, and rodeo action. Admission is free, parking is $5, and it's all about 15 minutes down the road.
