I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?
You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.
Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?
Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.
The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.
That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.
Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.
Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.
If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Meme of the Day

The Extreme Heat Warning stays in effect until 8pm this evening, with heat index values as high as 109. Today tops out at 98, then Saturday holds nearly as hot at 96 with just a slight chance of a stray morning storm. Real relief lands Sunday: mostly sunny and a much more comfortable 90, with better rain chances arriving early next week to help break the heat for good.

🎒 Everyone's Officially Back: 7-8 and 10-12 Head to Class Today
First day (round two) photo goes here
The wait is over for the district's oldest students. Grades 7 through 8 and 10 through 12 walk in for their first day of the 2026-27 school year today. Combined with yesterday's opening for PK through 6th grade and 9th grade, that means every Basehor-Linwood student, more than 3,000 of them, is now officially back on a normal schedule.
Congratulations to every middle schooler and high schooler starting something new this year, whether that is a new building, a new grade, or a first day at BLHS altogether.
Quick Details
📅 Today: First day for grades 7-8 and 10-12
🏫 Full district: Every grade level now back in session
🌡️ Heat Warning Holds Through Tonight
It is not over yet, Basehor. The Extreme Heat Warning stays active until 8pm this evening, so treat today like yesterday: full water bottles, light clothing, and extra caution at any outdoor pickup or drop-off line. Coaches and parents should keep a close eye on kids at afternoon practices too.
🎬 Cinema Sundays Kicks Off at the Civic Campus
Despite the name, the Basehor Parks and Rec movie series kicks off tonight with a screening of Field of Dreams at the Basehor Civic Campus. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair, and check the Parks and Rec site for the exact start time and any last-minute weather calls given tonight's heat.
☀️ Relief Is on the Way
Two more days of caution, then a real break. Saturday holds at 96 with just a slight morning storm chance, and Sunday finally drops to 90 with better rain chances to help cool things down for good.
